1. SITTING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE LIBRARY TO “wifi”
As common to everybody no one will ever like to spend any cost when the same can be obtained freely. This is most applicable in the University of Eldoret. I guess most are the economic students who would like to put into practice what they learn in class. We talk of perfect substitute and perfect complements; if at all my little economics can apply here. Most students are found surrounding the library to get the updates of the various sites they visit. The time you find most people are online on whatsapp and just after they go to their rooms they are only last seen at…
Not only the library surroundings but also inside the forestry building. This is the place where students maximally utilize the wireless connections of that Forestry Complex connection. The majority of these being men. Thanks to men they really understand how to apply the economics of the current economy.
2. STUDENTS SKIPPING MEALS WHEN THERE’S NO POWER
With the life of campus everybody understand what the students use to cook, “coil” as it is famously known by the campus fraternity. I have never understood if this only happens in UoE or it happens throughout the other campuses in the country. After having a lecture to lunch time and the students know there is no power they tend to use the term, “sasa hakuna stima naendea nini room”. The only thing they do is waiting for power. Many are never used to buying food in other hotels than cooking in their rooms. I guess it’s because of budget constraints.
If they opt to go to a hotel, they prefer the hotels that provide quantity, mark you not quality. This is only obtained at “kwa mathe” just after the panya root.
3. NOT USED TO THE LIBRARY AT THE MID SEMESTER TILL THE END
After being in the library for some days, while trying to find answers for the take away exam, it seemed the semester has not started yet. Students will always keep off the library study till when the semester is nearing a peak. This too I don’t understand whether it is at UoE only or applies elsewhere also.
Many students will only visit the library when the end semester examination timetable is out. I believe to brush through what they have been ‘discussing’ so far.
Those are just a few habits that I think only are found UoE.
