“Darling, allow me to still call you darling. I think we both deserve a second chance. We were good together. Please …”
“You made your point wild cat. Go shelter in your jungle.”
The lecturer had just called that there would be no class. He was held up somewhere else by a unforeseen circumstance. Being a Friday afternoon it resulted to a cheer from the class. Everyone knew that a weekend had just begun. ‘Member’s day’ they call it. Ken was happy. He had plans to visit his girlfriend in a place he called MMUST. I never knew what that means, only that I came to learn about it later that it meant Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. I take no blame for my ignorance, I dare say “a first year should not be blamed when he slips in a collage market and breaks a hawker’s eggs.”
Being my roommate in a cube of two I knew that I would be lonely. I would cook alone, sleep alone, go to the gym alone and buy breakfast for one. In my solitude came the figure of a young woman, or rather a lady whose beauty had always magnate my head. I was determined, when Ken arrives I will not be alone, in body and in soul. I quickly made myself supper and disappeared in my room and in a few minutes I was knocking on her room. Vivian was the name. Without wasting much time, she responded to my knock.
It was actually my second time to be in that room. I had accompanied a friend earlier. This time round the whole place had changed. The third bed had been occupied. A sub-woofer had also been brought.

She was not as hardcore as I had imagined. I thought I would reintroduce myself again but luckily enough she had not forgotten me. I was there to try to join something. I wanted to have Vivian as my …
Being a nutritionist student, she was kind enough to share her supper with me. I would have turned down the offer but I thought against it.
It was now time.
“Vivian, I must confess to you that from the first time I saw you, your have always been in my mind. Memories of your first smile have charmed the pavement that led me here.” After I was through with my first two sentences her brown face was now turning somehow dark.
“Vivian, I have come to let you know that in the bottom of my heart exploded a container that contained your love and now my whole heart is filled with thy love.”
She turned to face the other direction. Moved forward and peeped through the window. A chill of fear ran through me. I thought of giving up but an inner voice was encouraging me. Go on, go on.
“Vivian, all I ask from you is to love me back.”
I was through. It was now time to receive my feedback. Just then, one of her roommate stormed in crying. It meant there was an issue that required some special attention.
