Mr and Miss Kenyatta University is an event held once in every academic year in KU and its satellite campuses. The event normally brings the students together to celebrate their beauty and dynamic culture. The winners and the runners up are honored and acknowledged for the good job. Last year’s event saw Jennifer and Nyongesa crowned as the Mr and Miss KU, Kitui campus respectively. The red carpet event is set to take place on 5th of March this year. This will provide an opportunity once again to comrades to contest for the prestigious title and the various awards. ‘
This years event will be sponsored by safaricom as the major sponsors in conjunction with Kenyatta University Students Association. Safaricom has promised to make the event a success and an unprecedented in lower Yatta region. In respect to this Kitui Town has been decorated with banners bearing Kenyatta University in preparation for the eye catching event. The event is set to kick off on Saturday at 6pm till dawn.
A couple of artists are expected to grace the occasion. Among them is most renowned ‘furahia maisha’ star mejja. He being the major artist known for his top hits, jana kuliendaje like nyongwa among others, is expected to thrill and entertain the comrades during the occasion. In respect to this over 5000 persons are expected to attend inclusive of the students from KU main, KMTC, SEKU, Friends and locals. In addition over 200 guests and dignitaries from all corners are expected to be in attendance. Agents from companies like Coca Cola, INUKA Kenya and Sportpesa just to mention a few are too anticipated to make the event a success.
The event will also bring together a couple of leaders and aspirants. The KUSA president Sam Were Were will lead in welcoming other great demagogues and aspirants like the youngest richest billionaire in East Africa and Starehe aspirant 2017 Steve Mbogo. The MP and governor for Kitui are also among the top government officials expected in attendance.
About security stern measures have been put in place. This has been achieved through deploying of 20 more police officers to provide security in and outside the campus. The office of KUSA through a memo urged comrades to remain calm and peaceful in order to avoid causing havoc. Consequently they urged all comrades to participate and grab the opportunity to mingle with the guest for career development.
