Egerton Opens a New Campus in Baringo

Egerton University BaringoEgerton University will this May admit its first batch of students at the newly created Baringo Campus in Kabarnet. According to news posted on the University website, Egerton will add to its list of Campuses the Baringo Campus that is located opposite Kabarnet Hotel. This will add to the Nakuru Town Campus, Nairobi Campus ans the Mombasa Campus.

The new Campus will have five Faculties which include Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education and Community Studies, Faculty of Commerce and The Institute of Gender, Women and Development Studies and the Faculty of Science. Over 28 Bridging Courses, Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters program are on offer for the May intake.

It’s worth noting that Egerton had Laikipia and Kisii Campuses under its wings before they were awarded Chatters by the Kibaki Government and got their independence. The only Masters programs that are being offered at the Baringo Campus are Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Human Resource Management.

With Ksh. 18,000 only, one can take an English Bridging course before proceeding to their preferred specialty. Similarly, with Ksh. 20,000, one can take either a Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics Bridging course. A certificate in Computer Applications is also on offer at the institution for Ksh. 6000 taking a duration of one month.

To apply one can obtain the Undergraduate degree and Postgraduate Programmes application forms at non-refundable fee of KSh. 2,000/= and Diploma application forms KSh. 1,000/= payable to the Egerton University Account Number KCB A/C No 1108550703. The Application forms can be obtained from the Admissions Office at Njoro Main Campus, Graduate School, Dean, Faculty of Education Community Studies (FEDCOS), Njoro Campus; and Principal Nakuru Town Campus, Kenya Institute of Professional Counselling (KIPC), Nakuru, Nairobi, Kisumu and Egerton University City Campus Nairobi.

Applicants are required to clearly indicate the programme applied for and mode of study and send the duly completed forms and original application fee Banking Slip attached to The Registrar (Academic Affairs),Egerton University,P.O. Box 536-20115,EGERTON. on or before 25th April 2014. Hand deliveries are to be made to the Central Registry at Njoro Campus.
