Havard university students through Ivy league offered a workshop in conjunction with its annual sex week which aimed at helping college students practise healthy and pleasurable anal sex.
The sex week event is an annual programming that is said to be interdisciplinary, thought-provoking, scholastic, innovative and applicable to student experiences to promote a holistic understanding of sex and sexuality. Harvard hosted the event for the third year in a row.
Carol Queen, a staff sexologist at Good Vibrations which is a sex-positive store in Brookline, Mass led the workshop titled “What What in the Butt: Anal Sex 101,”.
“Doing it wrong, as so many people do, can lead to big problems: from pain and discomfort all the way to sexually transmitted infections. Anal play isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is far more common than many people realize, and the team producing Sex Week is on the same page as we are: We want people to know enough about anal play to decide whether to try it, and if they do try it, we want them to have information to stay safe and healthy”, she said.
Though the event was attended by many students, a lot more thought that it was not that necessary and questioned the huge sums of money used in organizing it. Some felt that the money should have been channelled to other productive and educational events in the university.
Apart from the annal sex, students were also taught on why brown ladies are the best under the banner “Brown Girlz Do it Well: a Queer Diaspora Remix”,Sexy and I Know It: Sex Ed 101, Love @ First Swipe: Online Hookup Culture, #SellingSexy – How our social culture is shaping the future of entertainment and Losing Your (Concept of) Virginity.
Anal sex and sexual matters are major matters which trigger discussions in our universities. The event is being discussed worldwide and other universities have questioned while Havard is trying to handle matters of sexual concerns in a rather casual way.
