Applications are now open for the Initiative for Development and Entrepreneurship in Africa (IDEA) Foundation Seed Stage Accelerator Program. IDEA Foundation was established in Norway under the Lotteri og Stiftelses Tilsynet. The Foundation is a private initiative based on a strong belief and the great help of generous supporters.
In many African countries we now have prospering educational institutions and universities. Many graduates have great ideas for business ventures they want to start but where do they go for funding/mentorship? The IDEA concept is that by offering support to business ideas, Africans can create sustainable development for Africans.
IDEA Foundation is founded by people with executive background from the financial industry. The ambition is that this experience and the network will contribute to a new form of developing aid – Combining business competence with philanthropy.
The program is a partnership between Strathmore University and IDEA Foundation to provide training, mentorship and coaching and seed funding to qualified applicants. The program targets Strathmore University students, staff or alumni venturing into entrepreneurship. Qualifying applicants will receive up to KES. 500,000 in seed funding and incubation at @iBizAfrica, a multi-sectoral business incubation center based in Strathmore university.
