It is only two weeks ago that Karatina University joined KUSO, an umbrella union for the Kenyan universities. This was after a lot of deliberation and ranting efforts from the students on the varsity’s efforts to join a union that fights for students’ rights nationally.
The KUSA president, H.E. KENNEDY NG’ANG’A released the following statement after attending the meeting whereby Karatina University finally joined the KUSO.
‘Today I attended a KUSO Press Conference at YMCA NAIROBI Representing KARATINA UNIVERSITY STUDENT ASSOCIATION(KUSA).
We called unreluctantly to our President His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta to
*SET UP POLICE IN EVERY UNIVERSITY AND OUR CAMPUSES
*TO PROGRAMME ON HOW TO INSTILL BASIC SELF DEFENSE MECHANISMS TO ALL COMRADES IN UNIVERSITIES
*HAVE AN URGENT MEETING WITH STUDENT LEADERS SO AS THEY CAN INVEST IN OUR INTELLIGENCE AS LEADERS ON GROUND(Information is power)
*WE WILL ACCEPT NO MORE OF OUR COMRADES DYING WHILE KNEELING DOWN AND SITTING TO PLEAD MERCY FROM EXTREMISTS WHILE OUR GATES ARE GUARDED BY PEOPLE WITH ‘RUNGUS’ YET TERRORISTS COME WITH SERIOUS WEAPONS.
We were also encouraged as Comrades all over Kenya to embrace working out with INTERNAL MECHANISMS to solve issues with our Managements before trying The National Power of KUSO to address issues.’
After a represented KUSO Press Address to the President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta over Insecurity and Terror threat in Universities last Sunday; The President commanded all provinces to beef up Security in Universities.
