Karatina University Releases Opening and Registration Dates for 2015/2016 Academic Year

Karatina University comrades have been reminded that the first
semester of the 2015/2016 academic year commences on Monday 7th
September,2015 for all the continuing students.

A notice from the office of the Registrar, Academic Reaearch &
Students’ Affairs, addressed to all the continuing students indicates
that all students are required to register in the Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) systems as from Monday 7th September, 2015.The deadline for the semester registration will be Monday 28th September, 2015.Students who will not have registered by then are advised to defer their studies by completing the relevant form.

Class attendance is set to kick off as from Tuesday 8th September,
2015.Comrades should note that a clearence to attend classes will be
required.The clearence is to be obtained from the respective Deans of Schools.

Further, comrades are advised that fees payment is a mandatory
requirement before registration of the semester.It is indicated that
no student will be allowed in class and the university premises before

Comrades have started raising concerns on various social media
platforms about the new restrictions on fees payment and the students’ registration policy.They have cited fears that students who will be unable to make fees payments within the stipulated time frame might get compelled to defer their studies.

The first year students reported on the 31st of August, 2015.Over
2,000 first year students have been registered in the university to
persue the various programmes offered.

On Friday September,2015 the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mucai Muchiri
officially welcomed the first year students to the university.Prof.
Muchiri addressed the students and introduced to them, the various
Deans of Schools, Head of Departments, Directors and Administrative staff.


The University has also introduced new short courses in the School of
Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS) at the main campus.

The short programmes include:

– Computer Skills for County and Public Administrators
– Computer Applications
– Data Communication and Networking
– Computer Hardware Maintenance &
– Computer Graphic Design
– Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD)
– International Computer Driving License (ICDL)

– Statistical Data Analysis(SPSS)
– Linux Essentials
– Certified Fiber Optic Technician(CFOF)
– Linux Essentials
– Huawei Certified Datacom Associate
– Cisco Networking Academy
