Kenyatta university will go down in history as the first ever institution with an ultra modern soccer stadium in Kenya. The varsity plans to build 25000 seater stadium in one of its campuses. The institution will follow in the foot steps of Egerton university who own a sports Pavilion.
This new soccer stadium is located on the Kenyatta University main campus in Kahawa in northeast Nairobi, 15 miles from the city center. The stadium is being designed to host FIFA-sponsored soccer matches and International Association of Athletics Federations sponsored track events. DLR Group’s design includes a new, comprehensive Student Recreational Center connected to the stadium. This facility will provide students with access to new fitness and wellness programs, and additional classrooms and meeting spaces for the University.
The scope of this project entails the design of 25,000 seat multi-purpose sports stadium with planned expansion 30,000 seats. The adjacent 16,000 square meter recreation center will provide a first-class wellness and fitness center for Kenyatta University students and faculty. DLR Group provided masterplanning, sustainable consulting, and architecture services for this project.
