SportPesa Customers Win Big as EPL Kicks Off with Man United Win

Gamblers and SportPesa fans are wrecking in millions of shillings only two weeks after the start of the English Premier League. The East and Central African Bet giant has seen an increase in the number of their customers over the last 1 year. SportPesa has so far spread its wings to sponsor teams within the country and in the EPL. Their latest deal with Hull City and Arsenal caused an uproar in the social media prompting them to offer an official statement over the issue.

Fans of the betting site spread across Kenya are now a smiling lot. Many including university students are already hundreds of thousands richer only two weeks into the EPL glamour. The students who have suffered huge losses over the several months that EPL action conspicuously missed from the SportPesa bet slip have now identified main teams that would not weather away with their hard earned HELB Money.

Some of the Teams including Manchester United used millions to bring in major players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Baily, Mkhitarhian and the magnificent Paul Labile Pogba. The Jose Mourinho led football club has so far handed in to the gamblers half of what they lost in the past 4 months. Even though some are still counting losses, an individual raked in 1.9 Million shillings after staking Ksh. 20000 in the game between Manchester United and BourneMouth last Sunday. The English club also led an onslaught against Southampton which saw them beat Wanyama’s former club by 2 goals to nil.

The betting craze in Kenya has already prompted a group of parliamentarians to come up with ways of limiting students involvement in the said industry. Referred to as some of the evils in the Kenyan economy, the MPs including CORD leader Raila Odinga believe that the gambling craze is the next big scandal in Kenya. The MPs are lobbying their colleagues to enact a law that will control the betting companies including SportPesa.
