Though it is every parents dream to have his son or daughter score high grades in KCSE and qualify to join university, a student who scored an A in the just released KCSE results has opted to pursue soccer. Many who scored best grades are looking forward to enroll for the 11 best programs in Kenyan universities.
The boy, Marxwel Kering who hails from Ziwa in Uasin Gishu county told members of the press that he is determined to be one of the best footballers in the world. He said that he will set aside his chance of joining the university not because he loathes education but because he would love to pursue his child wood dream.
The young man is set to fly to London and join Arsenal academy on 16th of January 2016. According to his mother, Anne Kering, Marxwel has been a footballer since he was a child. She says that he had been admitted to Ghost Mulei led Liberty academy and had succeeded in taking part in ‘Ligi ndogo’ competition.
Marxwel said that his main icon is Victor Wanyama who plays for Tottenham Hotspurs in English premier league. His mother said that they kept on opposing his moves but learnt to move on and accept the fact that Football was in his blood. She said that as gift for his good performance in the KCSE they will pay for his stay at Arsenal Academy.
Kering said that he will in future if all goes well enroll for other academic programs to go alongside his football training and career.
