UoN Holds a Prize Giving Ceremony, Rewards the Best Students

University of Nairobi rewarded the best students from the Academic Year 2011/2012  and 2012/2013 at the prize giving ceremony held at Taifa Hall. The ceremony was held on May, 20, 2016.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi noted that the University is keen on rewarding top achievers as they represent resilience, one of the hallmarks of university scholars.  Prof.  Mbithi noted that the prize giving day, is special to the University and it is second to the graduation ceremony.

“I share in your sense of pride and greatness. It is fulfilling to be a champion at this great University “, said the Vice-Chancellor.   A total of 489 students were awarded with presents, which include cash, trophies together with a certificate.

The Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to urge the continuing students to be competitive in their academic pursuit.  Prof. Mbithi thanked the 82 donors of various awards. Among the donors who   presented the awards include: General Motors, Kenindia Insurance, Delloite and Touche among others.

In his closing remarks the Vice-Chancellor urged the students to be the University of Nairobi brand ambassadors  be it in Kenya or globally.

On his part, Prof. Henry Mutoro, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, thanked the parents and guardians for the sacrifices they made to give students the best education.  He noted that those who are getting awards are proof that hard work pays.

Also present during the awards ceremony were : Members  of the University Management Board,   University Senate, staff and students.
