Jaramogi Odinga University has announced plans to start offering a new course on Waste Management.
The institution’s Kisii Campus director Henry Onderi on Thursday said the new program launched refuse collection and management is aimed at offering training to county officials to control wastes.
“The program will equip learners with skills on collection and management of garbage not only in Kisii County but also across the country,” he said.
Onderi added that the aim of the program is to plug a hole in conservation by turning garbage collectors into professionals.
“We also need garbage collectors to be professionals who will ensure garbage is disposed of properly to keep the business and living environment clean,” he added.
He called on current county garbage collectors to enrol in the program to acquire the skills which will enable them to carry on with their daily duties in a professional manner.
