Students residing in the Soweto Hostels in Moi university (namely A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J) are still fighting the battle against dreaded bedbugs.
Stored in the loft above Hostel G, the mattresses had barely been given to the first few hundreds when complaints started filtering up the various janitors, housekeepers and fellow students about the unwanted bedfellows.
Upon interview, an official in the Hostel Management office said that four weeks into the semester, complaints are still constant.
They are reported alongside inquiries of mattresses which a large population of the students are still lacking. An issue supposed to be handled by the Public Health Office, it is said that the officer in charge of dusting the mattresses is on leave.
In an effort to gain comfort and with the mantra “Every man for himself, God for us all”, students are taking it upon themselves to debug the mattresses themselves.
