The Ministry of Health has announced that three more patients have been diagnosed with Coronavirus. The Ministry in a Press statement at Afya House today noted that the number has now risen to 31 from yesterday’s 28.
According to the Ministry, the three patients are all females aged between 30 years to 60 years. The patients according to the Ministry are also distributed in three counties including Nairobi, Kwale and Kilifi.
Answering the question whether the patient who was released yesterday after being cleared of the virus, the Ministry noted that he was test number 2 who had been admitted at Mbagathi. The ministry noted that he met the method for release which is two negative tests. However, it was noted that there could be a possibility of a re-infection meaning that the patient will still be monitored closely.
The ministry has urged Kenyans to observe the self quarantine issue very seriously to ensure that Kenya controls the spread of the virus.
Speaking for the Ministry, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said that those who defy the order given by the state will face the law as has always been warned. She also noted that the patient announced at Kakamega by Governor Wycliff Oparanya was among the three patients that they have announced.
The Ministry urged the county governments to work hand in hand with the ministry in order to ensure that they adhere to the WHO standards of reporting the cases.
President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday said that the country will be under a curfew as from tomorrow.
