Call for Innovative Sexual(ity) Reproductive Health Ideas - The I Am Campaign

A great opportunity has come up for young innovators and developers;  the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with Nailab, National Coordinating Agency for Population and Development (NCPD-GOK) and UKAid have come together to roll out an iAccelerator program called I. Am.

The I.AM campaign calls on young people to realize their desire to talk about; learn and understand their sexuality and sexual reproductive health by engaging with the right sources of information in a safe and un-stigmatized environment.

It seeks to have innovations created addressing the sexual reproductive health of youth and adolescents need the proper information and safe spaces to get help and around this topic.

From 13th June 2016 till 4th August 2016, the I.AM campaign challenges young innovators and entrepreneurs to submit their ideas on solutions that address access to information and services on sexual reproductive health for the youth. By adopting the clarion call I.AM, the youth personally declare that they stand to be different through boldness, mindset transformation and empowerment.

The UNFPA – Nailab accelerator program is a 3 months program running from September through to November as follow-up to the I.AM campaign. The programme will support 4 enterprises with innovative ideas on how to enhance access to sexual and reproductive health Information and services for the youth. The program will entail: Training, Mentoring, Seed Funding, Scaling.

The four selected innovations will get funding of Ksh 1Million each to enable them grow and scale their initiative.

Campaign Timeline

  • Applications Open – 13th June ’16
  • Applications Close – 26th June ’16
  • Judging Completed – 29th July ’16
  • Final Pitching – 4th August
  • Program Begins – 8th August
  • Demo Day – 30th November

The programme has top-notch mentors such as; Dr. Amit Thakker, Joram Mwinamo, Sam Gichuru, Dr. Eddine Sarroukh, Adam Lane, Benjamin Makai & Philip Ogola.
