Catholic University gets new VC

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Cuea) has a new Vice-Chancellor.

Prof Stephen Mbugua will assume office on Monday following this week’s handing over by outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof Justus Mbae.

The University Council Chairman Bishop Maurice Muhatia, oversaw the handover process and introduced the new Vice Chancellor to the Cuea fraternity.

Prof Mbugua thanked the Council for its trust in his leadership capacity for the position and called on the support of all stakeholders towards achieving the objectives of the University.

He reiterated his commitment in driving Cuea to higher heights of glory as a University of choice in moral and character formation and a beacon of excellence in academics and research.

“I want appreciate Prof Mbae for his dedicated service to the University during his three-year term,” he said.

Prof Mbugua indicated that his priorities in his tenure would be to transform and turn-around Cuea, expand its student market catchments, ensure high quality programs, enhance business excellence as well as align operations with good governance, staff motivation, right culture, service excellence and digital leverage.

Bishop Muhatia also thanked Prof Mbae, for his steadfast service and pledged the Council’s support to the new Vice Chancellor and his management team.

Until his appointment, Prof Mbugua was the Vice-Chancellor Designate of Tangaza University College which is a constituent college of Cuea.

He holds a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Egerton University and he brings to Cuea 20 years of extensive experience and knowledge in management and leadership of Kenyan tertiary education.
