Deputy President William Ruto has told off Uhuru’s Jubilee party wing led by Secretary General Raphael Tuju over a bid to ouster him as the deputy party leader. Ruto said the party had initiated the process to kick him out as the outfit’s deputy party leader because of no reason at all and only witch-hunting.
“We have people who are clearly angry with me over things that don’t concern them. I can only tell them to stop wasting their time calling me names, exhibiting pride and hate for no reason”, pointed out the DP.
The DP said Tuju who also doubles up as the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio should stop wasting his time fighting a “losing” battle. He noted that his so called ‘hustler’ movement is unstoppable.
Addressing mourners at the burial of Esther Kogo Toyoi, the mother to Kenya’s former professional long distance runner Paul Tergat, Dr. Ruto vowed to continue offering support to citizens at the grassroots level.
Seen as the leader in the Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee Party, DP Ruto argued it was time for change and as such he won’t stop empowering his fellow “hustlers” as he advances in his 2022 presidential bid.
“Yes. It is time for change, time to talk and walk the hustler narrative. Not about sharing power but empowerment. Not about positions but jobs for our people, not about leaders but ordinary citizens. This wheelbarrow conversation will continue,” he said.
Ruto was declared persona non grata at the Jubilee headquarters in Pangani on Friday, October 2, in what Tuju termed as a move aimed at stopping an attempted “power grab” by the DP and his allies.
“We never wished to get to this point. We serve one president at a time. The party headquarters is not going to be allowed to be theatre of confrontations . DP (Ruto) as self declared 2022 presidential candidate will not be allowed to use party office as centre of operation of his 2022 campaign,” a visibly angry Tuju declared.
