Information reaching our sports news desk shows that the Egerton University students Ferd League is ready to commence. The matches are set to begin as from 14/2/2015 noon.
The Wildlife Enterprise Management Team commonly referred to as WIEM will light the fire against their perennial rival Natural Resources (NARE).
It has also been revealed that the transfer period shall be kept open up to the midnight of 13th February.The above resolutions were agreed on a meeting between club captains of the various teams participating in the league.
Posting on their Facebook page “THE FERD LEAGUE PLATFORM”,the organizing committee’s chairperson Luiz de Capy said “Today we had a long meeting with the captains,one that saw fixtures made, new season rules set and league officials re-elected”.
The chairperson also shared some bad news that they had resolved to eliminate one of the teams which participated as guests in the last league.
“This meeting also saw AGBM eliminated on a common agreement to have 6 teams participate this season”,Mr Luiz said.
Luiz also added that, “Please collect your certs from your respective captains and pay for them too if you need it.Transfer window is open until midnight 13th Feb.The league kicks off officially on Saturday, 14th Feb at 12 noon with Wiem playing Nare, Thank you all.”
In other sports news in the university, all classes in the Faculty of Environment and Resources Development (FERD) in Egerton University, Njoro have been requested to submit names of their players who will be participating in a 3 day inter departmental games in the faculty.
Speaking to our news desk on phone, the FERD faculty congress, Mr Ezekiel Simeka confirmed that the top 3 teams will be awarded trophies as well as certificates of participation.
The sports extravaganza is meant to bond students within the faculty and the chief guest will be their dean, Dr Mironga and the dates will be communicated in due course.
Meanwhile Egerton RFC “Wasps” are through to the quarter finals of the KRU Nationwide league after topping the Rift Valley zone with 43 points.Their last match saw them win 21-3 versus Kabarak University with 2 tries, 1 conversion and 3 penalties against Kabarak’s 1 penalty.
