The chancellor at Egerton University and businessman Dr. Narendra Raval has been awarded with yet again a new honor by the Kenyan government. Dr. Raval is among other four people in the list of Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) read out by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Jamhuri day celebrations held on 12th December this year.
Orders, decorations, and medals of Kenya are awarded by the President of Kenya in recognition of outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities
Awards are made by the president upon the advice of a National Honours and Awards Committee in the president’s office. Individuals are nominated for awards by district committees, government ministries, religious organisations, non-governmental organisations, individuals and others.
Others who received the honor include: Major General Mutai Jimson, Lieutenant General Mulata Adan, Mr. Kirogo Stephen and Mrs. Karuku Jane.
Accepting his award, the Egerton University Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the president and the Kenyan government . He noted that he had received Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.) honor before.
Some of those who hold this award are senior judges, former State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange and 800M Olympic champion David Rudisha among others.
The other presidential orders in terms of seniority include; the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya, the Distinguished Conduct Order, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star of Kenya, Head of State’s Commendation and the Uhodari Medal.
The highest of these awards is the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya which is divided into three classes depending on their seniority. The most senior is the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.) which is mostly awarded to Presidents.
