Egerton University Holds its First Agricultural Week in History


History is being written today as Faculty of Agricultural together with Faculty of Agriculture Students Association launches the first Egerton University Agriculture Week. The event goes down today 23rd April 2015 at Njoro Campus which is acclaimed for its ingrained and extensive agricultural activities.

The theme of the Agricultural Week is “Empowering Youth for Agricultural Sustainability”. A member of F.A.S.A speaking to this journalist said, “Agriculture being one of giant income earners to this country ought to be nurtured and be accorded the attention it deserves.”


“Empowering the youth is empowering a nation, we are looking forward to a more food secure Kenya, and by doing so we’ll be able to double our exports and improve our revenue income,” added another student.

The event will see farmers and interested people tour the vast University’s farm fields to explore the secrets behind the successful agriculture. Some of the place include the Taton Agricultural Park and infamous outspoken self-sufficient Ngongongeri farm.

Don’t miss out on this as experts will be giving expositions on some of the best and reliable methods of successful farming in poultry, dairy, fish, cash crop among others.

Egerton University remains to be a leading Agricultural institutions not only in Kenya but in Africa and the world at large. It began as an agricultural institution but it has now widened to become a renowned agricultural hub.
