Egerton Wasps RFC team celebrating their University League title. The team has asked Kenya Rugby Union to reschedule their fixtures.

Egerton University, Njoro based rugby team ‘Egerton Wasps’ are through to the semis of the Rift Valley region Nationwide playoffs after thrashing a helpless KPA Eldoret.

The university side beat KPA 65-3 on Saturday 7 February in a tie played at the Egerton University,Njoro Pavilion.

The hosts, coached by former Kenya Harlequins Mr. Enos Otieno descended on the visitors heading into the break with a massive 32-0 score line.The match was a one sided affair with KPA causing minimum threat to a well polished and tactically minded Wasps.

Also through to the semis is Eldoret RFC who beat a relentless Kericho RFC 18-11 at the Eldoret Sports Club having led 11-3 at half time. Draw for the semis, to be played in the coming weekend will be done in the course of the week.

Meanwhile, Kenya 7’s team bagged 10 points from the just concluded IRB 7’s leg held in Wellington, New Zealand. Kenya was pooled together with Argentina, Scotland and Samoa.

In the first match, Kenya started on the wrong foot losing 31-7 to Argentina. In the second match, Kenyan team put up a spirited fight winning 19-14 versus Scotland while in the last match of the day, they won 28-14 against Samoa benefiting from 2 sin-bins handed to Samoa.

The boys coached by Felix Totty finished second in their group and were through to the main cup quarters where they lost 5-19.They were relegated to the plate semi finals where they also lost 5-21 against Australia.

All eyes will now be on the Las Vegas series where Kenya has been pooled together with England, Argentina and Canada in pool B of the tournament. The games will be played on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th February.

Speaking before heading to Las Vegas, Collins Injera the team skipper said that Vegas would be tough but the team was up to the challenge·

“‎Vegas7s ‬will be tough but we are up to the challenge. There aren’t any easy pools in the Series nowadays. So you just buckle up and face the challenge head on,” Collins Injera said.

For the rugby fanatics, the timings for the pool B matches for Team Kenya will be as follows ;

Fri 4:50am. Kenya vs. Canada

Fri 7:46am. Kenya vs. Arg

Sat12:30am: Kenya vs. Eng
