2017 SportPesa premier league champions Gor Mahia FC on Friday kicked off their pre-season tour on a high note by scoring six goals past Egerton University goalkeeper. In a much that was attended by a relevantly huge crowd, Gor Mahia mostly dominated activities in the field.

Gor decorated the scoreline in the early minutes of the game with a superb shot from Samuel Onyango which went past the Egerton goalkeeper. This was then followed by goals from Wellington Ochieng, two goals by Ephrem Guikan, the fifth by Boniface Omondi and six by the legendary Francis Kahata.

Gor Mahia FC known to many as Sirkal Mayienga has been on an intensive pre-season training at Egerton University’s Sports Pavillion since 10th January. The two-week pre-season tour led by head coach Dylan Kerr and his assistant Zedekiah Zico Otieno will see them face different teams inlined pre-season friendlies.

In other news, the East African Betting firm SportPesa is yet to serve Gor Mahia FC with contract termination letter two weeks after withdrawing from an agreement with the club, Gor’s Secretary General, Ben Omondi has said.

While responding to questions from infuriated Gor Mahia fans after the withdrawal announcement, Omondi said that he is yet to be notified of the much-publicized contract termination of all sponsorship deals by the gaming company.

“As the Secretary-General, I have not received any letter from SportPesa indicating that the deal is terminated. But even so, the Executive Committee is not sleeping on the job. We are on top of things,” Omondi said in a post online.

SportPesa announced that they have withdrawn all sports sponsorship after the gaming giants lost case challenging the proposed 35-percent tax on betting and gaming income by the government.

But the latest revelation by Gor Mahia official now exposes what could be seen as a well-orchestrated machination by the betting firms to beat the government into submission.
