IEEEXtreme 8.0 24-Hour Programming Competition

IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members, supported by an IEEE Student Branch, advised and proctored by an IEEE member, compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems.

Tips for first time participants:

-Since all auto-judging platforms need some time to familiarize yourself with, make sure you spend enough time understanding systems.

-Practice solving problems from past contests with your teammate.

-Don’t expect too much on result or ranking. It may not apply to everyone, but the more you expect the worse you’ll do.

-Competitive programming is comparable to sport. Make sure you do it happily and have strong will to do it.

-It’s going to be a 24-hour competition, the competition is not just coding and coding. You need effective time management too. This is very important. Make sure you have time to relax, eat snack, walk around a campus or sleep to stabilize yourself. Remember that peeking at monitor for a long time lead to eye’s fatigue. Plan ahead with your teammate and get enough sleep the day before contest!
