Jubilee Party has today addressed a number of issues surrounding it. The party through its Secretary General Raphael Tuju and its leadership in both the National Assembly and the Senate has noted that they are partners to PDR which was formally POA and now UDA.
Speaking during the unveiling of candidates for various ward by-elections, Mr Tuju noted that everyone in Jubilee was confused with the recent developments and even members of the said PDR learnt of its change of name from the media. He said that Jubilee Party will continue to respect their co-operation agreement with UDA and acknowledged that it would be difficult for any of their members to face disciplinary action over the same.
The Deputy President Dr William Ruto has been on the receiving end over the past few days for unveiling candidates for the outfit considered to be a political opponent to Jubilee Party within which he is the Deputy Party Leader. The DP and his close allies have been going across the country popularising the party whose symbol is now a Wheelbarrow.
A few days ago, UDA Party chairman Johnstone Muthama flanked by a group of senators and MPs allied to the Deputy President unveiled Margaret Wanjiru as their Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate going as far as daring the President and the former Prime Minister to face their ‘Hustler’ team with the ‘Handshake’ Candidate.
Jubilee Party has however noted that they are still keenly observing the advancements in Nairobi and will decide on whether to field a candidate or call it quits when the time is due.
On matters BBI, the senators and members of parliament present noted that they are strongly supporting the initiative and that it was President Kenyatta’s one single most important issue in his tenure. The team noted that they had dispatched groups to hold discussions across the country and ensure that when citizens will be making decisions, they will do so from a well informed position.
The team also noted that neither President Kenyatta nor their leadership had proposed the removal of Irungu Kang’ata as their Chief Whip adding that it is the Murang’a Senator who will decide on whose team he wants to stay.
