Kenyatta University Postpones Holiday Classes

More than 2,000 teachers who study during school holidays at Kenyatta University will have to wait longer as the effects of the one-month lecturers’ strike continues to bite.

“Kenyatta University wishes to inform all continuing students enrolled in the Institutional-Based Programmes at main and satellite campuses that the April

2018 trimester has been postponed until further notice,” said a statement from the University registrar academic Andanje Mwisukha on Wednesday.

Dr Mwisukha said more details would be communicated later. The, students, mostly teachers, use the holiday programmes to advance their education.

Learning has been paralysed in 31 public universities as lecturers push for higher pay.

The government has insisted that it will only give an offer based on staff audit while lecturers are demanding Sh38 billion for the four-year pay deal.
