David Murathe has urged the country to prepare for the presidency of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga.

Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman and an ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta compares Raila’s bid to former South African President Nelson Mandela.

“We think it is time Kenyans rewarded the long years of the struggle of Raila Amollo Odinga. They owe it to him, it is like Mandela, it is a Mandela moment.

“Raila’s people from Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya and Kisumu voted for us. It will be much easier for Raila Amollo Odinga to come to Mt. Kenya than the Deputy President,” noted Murathe.

Weeks ago, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka joined Jubilee party in a co-operation agreement. Murathe has now urged the former Vice President to pave way for Raila. He has asked him to be Raila’s Deputy in 2022.

Raila however distanced himself form the 2022 politics. Explaining a photo that went viral of him meeting former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, he says it was just a meet-up.

“I do not know what is wrong with people meeting informally. We have said we do not want to talk about 2022, period,” stated Raila.

Whereas his bid for Presidency is gaining momentum, Raila faces a headache with sections of the Coast and Western region threatening to withdraw their support.

Raila had asked ODM Senators to support the contentious formula before changing tune. It is not clear whether Murathe’s proclamation will make the opposition chief change his mind again.

Furthermore, EALA MP Oburu Oginga claims that his brother, Raila Odinga, has ‘the system’ to propel him to power in 2022.
