Shock as Man Admits to Stealing Staircase at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication


A man last week pleaded guilty to stealing steel-staircase worth 5,000 shillings after vandalizing a bed at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).

The man identified as Moses Osero was charged with robbing the premier media training institution in South B Nairobi on December 22 after he climbed and scaled up the institution’s perimeter wall before landing in the compound.

In the witness stand, Security officers admitted having seen him climbing up the wall and said that they waited to see what he was up to, before later apprehended him.

Osero admitted the charges before Makadara law courts’ senior resident magistrate Jackline Kibosia.

Kibosia remanded him at Industrial Area Police station until Monday when the prosecution will avail evidence and exhibits for the case.

This is one of the rare cases happening in major colleges around the country. Apart from the incident, there are several other cases which have not only shocked the region but also made them curious on what might be on the minds of those who attempt to break into universities and steal things like the staircase.
