Once again, The University of Nairobi Digital Repository has emerged the
best in Kenya and 6th in Africa in the just released Webometrics Ranking
results,January 2015 edition.
The UoN registered an improvement from the July 2014 edition when it was ranked No. 7 in Africa. The University has continuously promoted the Open Access (OA) initiative by ensuring that all its staff and students deposit their research outputs into the digital repository.
The Library Department at the university of Nairobi is said to have played a major role in improving its ranking. The university management said that it has been committed to enhancing the Repository as a tool to increase the visibility and impact of the University research.
Kenyatta university Repository and JKUAT digital repository was ranked at position 46 and 49 respectively in Africa. They were also ranked as 1st runner up and 2nd runner up in Kenya. Others fell short of the top 100 best repositories in Africa.
